Bright granny star

My New Year’s resolution this year was to make a dent in my yarn collection and resist buying more unless absolutely necessary. I have two drawers plus three large plastic containers that I really need to use up. Browsing on Instagram a few weeks ago I saw a a granny star blanket by Cozamundo and bookmarked it as a ‘must make’. She directed followers to Lulu Loves Crochet for a pattern.

When I first saw the pattern, I knew I wanted to do regular colour changes. So, going through my yarn stash I picked out some Stylecraft Special DK and decided to change colour every row. The colours and the order I put them, are:

  1. Lipstick
  2. Saffron
  3. Sunshine
  4. Grass Green
  5. Aster
  6. Lobelia

It’s such a lovely pattern and very easy to follow. The perfect project to work on during cold January evenings while binge watching Netflix! The pattern can be found here on Lulu Loves Crochet’s blog.

In my attempt to use up my yarn stash, the rule is that is that I can’t buy more unless absolutely necessary. So far this has meant that I just keep crocheting until I run out of the yarn I’m using for that project. For this blanket, I ended up using just under one ball of each colour, and the final blocked width is 44inches.
