My New Year’s resolution this year was to make a dent in my yarn collection and resist buying more unless absolutely necessary. I have two drawers plus three large plastic containers that I really need to use up. Browsing on Instagram a few weeks ago I saw a a granny star blanket by Cozamundo and bookmarked it as a ‘must make’. She directed followers to Lulu Loves Crochet for a pattern.
When I first saw the pattern, I knew I wanted to do regular colour changes. So, going through my yarn stash I picked out some Stylecraft Special DK and decided to change colour every row. The colours and the order I put them, are:
- Grass Green
It’s such a lovely pattern and very easy to follow. The perfect project to work on during cold January evenings while binge watching Netflix! The pattern can be found here on Lulu Loves Crochet’s blog.
In my attempt to use up my yarn stash, the rule is that is that I can’t buy more unless absolutely necessary. So far this has meant that I just keep crocheting until I run out of the yarn I’m using for that project. For this blanket, I ended up using just under one ball of each colour, and the final blocked width is 44inches.
Love the colours of the blanket. I had that resolution last year, didn’t happen. Trying again this year. so far im doing good. I got a free ball from Hobbycraft and had the birthday voucher, but I got something that I can use tha pattern on the band so didnt need any more.

Thank you! I work really near a Hobbycraft so I’ll need to resist just popping in at lunchtimes!
That will be hard. I’m grateful that hobbycrafts by me I can’t get to them easily.
[…] The first blanket I finished was a giant granny square, and then came a granny star. […]
