Wire pendants

I really, really need to finish one of my crochet WIPs, but I’ve recently been distracted by…….wire. Yes, wire.

It all started a couple of weeks ago when I popped to Hobbycraft to get a couple of buttons for a cushion cover I’m crocheting. As I was looking for the buttons, my eye was caught by a jewellery wire and beads. Impulsively, I picked up the wire, some beads, a pair of nylon edged pliers and set off to pay, only remembering at the last minute that I needed buttons!

When I got home I turned to YouTube for help on what to do, and after lots of trial and error (and buying another pair of pliers, I had no idea there were so many different kinds!) I’ve managed to make the pendants below. The one in the middle has multiple beads inside, I’d like to make another one but with lots of smaller beads inside, but at the moment I have no idea how to do it so they don’t all fall out! I guess it will just be trial and error. The other two are each made up by folding a piece of wire in half and then twisting together. The wire is either 0.8mm or 1mm thick – I can’t remember and have lost the packet, oops!

I really enjoyed making these, and they were really quick to make. I’d like to get better at shaping the wire, I’ve seen some great examples of what be done. However in the interests of my bank account I think I need to ban myself from Hobbycraft!
